These apps add complexity and variety to small businesses’ already extensive marketing landscape.
Growth of Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp Messaging apps

Facebook Messenger boasts over 900 million monthly active Facebook Messenger users.
Every month, over 1 billion messages are exchanged between Facebook Messenger users and businesses/Business Pages users.

- More than 2.5 billion people have at most one messaging app installed
- In just a few years, 3.6 Billion people will have a messaging application installed

Facebook claims to have one-sixth of the world’s population as its users, which makes it the most extensive single communications network ever.
The company plans to transform its mobile Messenger service into an open platform that can host other apps (chatbots), making it less necessary to click away.
This is very similar to AOL but on a much larger scale.
You can use the Messenger app to:

You can access your messages and chats anywhere you log in to Facebook.
You can get push notifications for your tablet or phone free of charge to receive each message as soon as it arrives.
With in-app notifications, quickly switch between conversations.
Facebook believes Messenger can be a primary channel for businesses to communicate with customers. It will replace 1-800 numbers with a mixture of artificial intelligence, human intervention, and customer service. Facebook encourages developers to build chatbots for its Messenger platform.
Facebook chat could be the next frontier for marketing. Although I don’t recommend you rush to find the next trend, I encourage you to understand the social media shift.
