Where Did The American Flag Come From And Why Is It Seen So Often?
The American flag has been around for over two hundred years. The first flag of Washington was used in 1776. On New Year’s Day, when he ordered the Grand Union flag raised over his home on Prospect Hill during the siege of Boston by the British Army.
It had thirteen alternating red and white stripes and the British Union Jack in the upper left corner. This was the beginning of many American flags that would be flown as the American flag shirt. Shortly thereafter, in May, Betsy Ross claimed to have sewn the first American flag.
The new nation wanted a different flag than the one Washington had flown, so they came up with a different design. which featured thirteen alternating red and white stripes with thirteen white stars on a blue background in the corners. That would mean a new constellation. The number of stars has fluctuated since 1777.
Until 1960, when a star was added for each new state. The way different stars formed as they continued to evolve was, of course, slightly different each time. The colors of the American flag have always been red, white, and blue. Red symbolizes bravery and courage. White symbolizes purity and innocence, while blue symbolizes vigilance, endurance, and justice.
Today our flag has thirteen stripes representing the original thirteen colonies with seven red and six white stripes. In the upper left corner on a blue background are 50 stars representing all our states.
The American flag can be seen in almost every home or property in this country. Many people keep a traditional-sized flag near their home, and it’s even more likely that they have a smaller version of the flag on a pole. Many of these smaller flags are used in various parades and celebrations across our country.
